Cyberpunk 2077 developer sued for lies about game
A group of investors of game studio CD Project Red goes to court. They were told by the company that the long awaited game Cyberpunk 2077 was in good condition, but afterwards it turned out to be full of errors.
According to the investors, CD Project Red deliberately lied to them. When asked if the game would be released this year, the board said the version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was in good condition.
Reality turned out to be different: bugs and other flaws plagued the game shortly after its release, leading to criticism from both gamers and critics. The previously mentioned editions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One had the most problems, because the game turned out to be too heavy for those older hardware.
Share plunged
The problems led Sony to take the game out of its digital store and warn customers worldwide before buying it. CD Project Red apologized and promised to fix the problems as soon as possible.
The game company's share plummeted 42 percent due to the problems, leading to the lawsuit. Investors believe the value has fallen after they were deliberately lied to.
Class-action
The lawsuit is a so-called class-action, which means that any victim can join it. The dispute will be fought in the U.S. courts.
It is unclear when exactly the lawsuit will start. Courts are now largely closed for Christmas, while the case was filed on Christmas Eve.
